Greenland 2018

I had the good fortune to take a small ship cruise departing from Reykjavik, stopping at Iceland's Westman Islands, then crossing the sea to southwestern Greenland. Changing ice conditions kept our itinerary changing in response, but we were able to make memorable landings at numerous small coastal fishing towns where colorfully painted houses are arrayed across steep terrain. We sailed from Qaqortot to Uummannaq. One delightful highlight was an afternoon observing the massive Ilulissat glacier calve icebergs into a sea full of cavorting humpback whales.
