Baja Mexico, 2013
Mesoamerican Collages

Although the Mayan civilization never reached Baja, I took the liberty of adding Mayan and other Mesoamerican elements to landscape and sea views of southern Baja, imagining them as messages from the past appearing as if newly revealed secret writing, or ancient artifacts.

Our whale-watching ship began its journey on the Sea of Cortez, rounded the tip of Baja and spent a good deal of time in the dune-protected Bahia Magdalena on the Pacific side, where grey whales and their young calves swam in profusion.
